    Elizabeth Fry, born today in 1780, was an English prison and social reformer, and a prime example of what Taureans can achieve with their natural determination, focus and commitment to a plan. Fry was the driving force behind new legislation to make the treatment of prisoners in England more humane. She also established a "nightly shelter" for the homeless in London after seeing a young child living on the streets in winter. In Brighton she also started a visiting society, where volunteers visited the poor at home, to provide them with help and comfort. This society was later set up in other towns across Britain.

    While Taurean creativity may be better suited to scientific endeavours, it often manifests itself in the arts too.  The creative Shaffer twins were also born today in 1926. Play writer Peter's works includeEquus , Amadeus and The Royal Hunt of the Sun, while his brother Anthony, was a novelist and screenwriter.  Anthony adapted his play "Sleuth" into the film version starring screen legends Sir Laurence Olivier and MichealCaine and also wrote the screen play for the 1973 cult hit film "The Wicker Man".

    Neither is it true of Florence Nightingale, also born today in 1820. "The Lady with the Lamp" as she is often nicknamed, was a pioneering nurse and writer and she is credited for founding the modern nursing profession, with International Nurses Day celebrated on her birthday.

    Katherine Hepburn was also born today in 1907. Her creative Taurean side lead her to become the American Film Institute's Greatest Female Star in the History of American Cinema, and she has the most Best Actress wins at the Oscars, scooping up the award four times.

    American businesswomen and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Mary Kay Ash was also born today.

    Stetson HatStetson HatIf it's your birthday today, then you share the day with John Batterson Stetson, he was born today in 1830, Stetson was the inventor of the famous style of cowboy hat.

    Taureans are generous people and Stetson believed in helping others, becoming a philanthropist as he grew his business into one of the largest hat companies in the world. He provided his employees with houses, a hospital and a park. He also donated money to charity helping to build schools and was responsible for creating the first law school in Florida.

    It is said that Taureans can be lazy but that was not so Stetson.  Their for double Olympic winner James Cracknell, also born today in 1972.

    Taurean's celebrating their birthday today share their birthday was a screen legend, Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn was named the third greatest film star of all time by the American Film Institute, showing she knew how to use herTaurean creativity.  Her image as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's has been iconic.

    Another creative Taurean born today is Nickolas Ashford, who together with his wife Valerie Simpson, make the songwriting/producing and recording artist team, Ashford and Simpson. Their most famous song was the hit "Solid," but they have also written and produced songs for Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and Gladys Knight.

    Katherine Jackson, was also born today in 1930.  Don't recognise the name?  She obviously passed on her Taurean creativeness to her children, as she was the mother of the Jackson 5, which included Micheal, as well as pop star Janet Jackson and musician Randy Jackson.

    Taurean creativity is a practical one, which is a personality trait of Bartolomeo Cristofori born today in 1655, he was an Italian musical instrument maker and is generally regarded as being the creator of the piano.
