Taureans are known for their determination, which Harriet Quimby born today in 1875 showed when she became the first women in the United States to gain her pilots license and in 1912 she became the first women to fly across the English Channel.
Taureans also have a creative side, which Spanish artist Salvador Dali, born today in 1904, used in his career. His best known work was "The Persistence of Memory" in 1931, although one of my favorite of his paintings is a little known piece which depicts Christ on the cross, and hangs in a small museum in Glasgow, Scotland.
The work is deliberately hung so that it appears that Jesus is falling over the viewer and invokes strong emotions. So much so, that the canvas bears the scars of two knife slashes from unhinged religious zealots!
Another creative Taurean born today was actress Natasha Richardson, who sadly died earlier this year in a skiing accident. Richardson was part of the Redgrave family acting dynasty and married to fellow actor Liam Neeson.
Some Taureans are known to have a temper and can be stubborn, which people interviewed by the confrontational British interviewer Jeremy Paxman, born today in 1950, would say are two personality traits which he posseses!
David Gest, infamous now for being the ex-husband of Liza Minnelli more than any of his work, was also born today.
