English poet Alexander Pope, born today in 1688, displayed his creative Taurean personality in his work, and is regarded as one of the greatest poets of the eighteenth century.

Elizabeth Fry, born today in 1780, was an English prison and social reformer, and a prime example of what Taureans can achieve with their natural determination, focus and commitment to a plan. Fry was the driving force behind new legislation to make the treatment of prisoners in England more humane. She also established a "nightly shelter" for the homeless in London after seeing a young child living on the streets in winter. In Brighton she also started a visiting society, where volunteers visited the poor at home, to provide them with help and comfort. This society was later set up in other towns across Britain.
