Geminis are both intelligent and intellectual people and Max Aitken, 1st Baron Beaverbrook, born today in 1879 in Canada to a Scottish father, used both to build his business empire. He had interests in both the "London Evening Standard" and the "Daily Express" and has been nicknamed as the first baron of Fleet Street. He built the Express into a witty journal (Geminis are also known for being quick witted) with dramatic photo layouts, and by 1934 it's daily circulation had reached over 1.7 million.

Beaverbrook was considered one of the most powerful men in Britain, whose newspaper could "make or break" you.  No surprise then, that being a sociable Gemini he was also good friends with powerful people such as Winston Churchill and served in Churchill's War Time Cabinet.

Geminis are born entertainers and drawn to the limelight. Entertaining Geminis celebrating their birthdays today include British actor IanMcKellen, born in 1939, whose roles include Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Magneto in the X-Men films and Canadian actor Mike Myers, best known on screen for his role in Wayne's World and for playing Austin Powers and off screen as the voice of Shrek.
