In addition to the traditional astrology and zodiac that most people are familiar with, there is the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is comprised of 12 animals to represent the different personalities of people.
These 12 animals are the rat, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog and the pig. The animals represent the basis of the Chinese zodiac and rotate throughout the years. This is where the common phrase “Year of the Rat” or “Year of the Pig” is heard from.
To find out what animal sign you have, you must use your birthday and year. The Chinese zodiac is based on a lunar year, not a solar year. This means that a new lunar year starts on February 3rd. This affects the result you may get when calculating what Chinese zodiac sign your birthday falls under. Those born before February 3rd will have the zodiac sign of the year before.
