Although Astrology is most often referred to as a New Age subject, it has in fact been used for hundreds and thousands of years. This ancient science has been used before either psychology or astronomy and uses mathematical cycles to study the different interactions between the planets and the stars.

The origins of astrology can be traced back to many notable locations and periods of time for both horoscopes and astrological records. One of the earliest records for astrology can be dated as far back as 1645 BC in Babylon. Horoscopes can be dated back as far as 410 BC, although location is unknown. Other locations where astrology has been noted to originate include Egypt, Rome, and Greece.

Astrological information began to be published for the public during the Renaissance. This is largely due to the fact that this was when the was a greater spread of literacy. In fact, during this time there were many notable person who practiced astrology; among them Copernicus and Galileo.

After this time, astrology saw a decline in popularity due to an array of different “predictions” failing to produce true results. After it lost its popularity, astrology saw small resurgences in usage during the 1700s and 1800s, however it wasn’t until 1930 that it had a widespread increase in popularity. This astrological profile helped to bring about the horoscope columns that many newspapers publish in the current day.
