This week sees the beginning of the Cancer sign of the Zodiac. People born under Cancer tend to be creative people, although this creativity can manifest itself in a variety of ways.  While other star signs such as Pisces use their creativity literally,  Cancers tend to show creative thinking through solving problems and thinking outside the box.

Famous Cancers born today have used their creative thinking to be pioneers in a wide range of fields and industries.  Konrad Zuse, born in 1910, was a German civil engineer and a forerunner in early computing.  As a Cancers he was determined to stick to his goals, regardless of what others thought, and in 1946 he founded one of the earliest computer companies.  IBM purchased one of his patents.

Meryl Streep is thought by many to be one of the most pioneering female actresses.  She was also born today in 1949 and is regarded as one of the most talented actors of the modern movie era. She has received more Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations than any other actor.   ManyCancers shy away from the limelight however,  as they don't possess the thick skins needed for the media industry.   Many feel threatened when under scrutiny and prefer the higher level of control that they can have over a simpler, quieter life.

Author Dan Brown is another Cancer to excel in his creative career. Born today in 1964, has used his creativity to write one of the most popular books of all time, "The Da Vinci Code," which as of 2006 had sold 60.5 million copies worldwide. Many people born under Cancer have a curious streak which can easily lean towards an interest in conspiracy theories.  Is this where Brown's inspiration came from?

People born under the zodiac sign Cancer are also easily identified by their sense of determination and grit, two aspects which ErinBrockovich possessed in her fight for compensation for the victims of illness brought on by drinking contaminated water.  It was perhaps her Cancer sense of empathy that moved her to take on the case, despite having no formal law training.  She would certainly have needed to rely heavily on these traits as most Cancers do not actively engage in fights or debates, and only do so when the subject is extremely close to their heart.  Born today, Brockovich was played by Julia Roberts in the 2000 film telling her story.

Don't feel too nervous about upcoming events this week.  Although you might be asked to step outside of your comfort zone,  the person asking obviously believes that you are up to the challenge, and you are not usually one to instill false confidence in people.  Have a bit of faith and try to see it as a learning experience.  Remember that doing things that scare us can lead to growth.  You never know, you might even end up enjoying yourself!
