Princess DianaThere are many Cancer women who make great inspirational role models for all of the females of this star sign, and two of them were born today.

If you're celebrating your birthday today, you share the day with the "worlds most photographed woman" Diana, Princess of Wales. Diana was well known for her Cancer characteristic of sensitivity, which she showed in her charity work. Cancers also have good maternal instincts and Diana was a devoted mother to her two son's often disregarding royal protocol when making decisions regarding their childhood, including choosing their schools and sacking their royal nanny.

 

Cancers are also determined and creative people, and Estée Lauder, born today in 1906, used these characteristics to build her own cosmetic company with her husband. Lauder started selling her uncles face creams but always wanted to create a brand sold in big department stores.  She created her own luxury brand products and achieved her dream in 1948. Lauder's determination and commitment to her goals meant that she always trained her own staff and opened the new stores herself.
