This English physicist and chemist worked alongside his son, William Lawrence Bragg to win the Noble Prize in Physics in 1915, for their studies on X-rays. Their ground breaking work "X-rays and Crystal Structure" reached five editions in ten years, as scientists were keen to learn as much as possible about the relatively new technology.Another Nobel Prize winner, born today in 1946, was Richard Axel. Axel is an American neuro-scientist who won the prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2004 for his joint work on the olfactory system.
