PT Barnum did not start his circus until he was 61.Cancers are known for their attention to detail and desire to 'get to the bottom of things' which is what may have prompted John Gilmore, born today in 1935, to become a true crime writer. Among the books which Gilmore has written is one about the unsolved Black Dahlia murder and the life and crimes of multiple murderer Charles Schmid.
Cancers love to be in control, and the job of ringmaster is probably one that most people born under this zodiac sign would love. Possibly the most famous ringmaster of all time, P.T Barnum, was born today in 1810. The showman and entertainer founded the P.T. Barnum Grand Traveling Museum, Menageris, Caravan and Hippodrome at the age of 61.
Myles Horton was also born today. Horton was born in a poor white area of Tennessee but like many Cancers he had strong social views and was determined to apply these beliefs in any way that he could. He was the co-founder of Highland Folk School which played a big part in the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King Jr. was among those who Horton taught.
