2012: The Year of the Dragon

Although it is still a few months away, February will be the beginning of the year of the dragon. Those who are born in the year of the Dragon are meant to be both respected and honored. This is because the Dragon is meant to deliver good fortune to people and be a master of authority. In Chinese myth, the dragon stands as a symbol of intense power in and good fortune.

Other years of the dragon included 2000, 1988, 1976, and 1964. People who were born in this Chinese Zodiac year are tend to have fairly free spirits. They do things on a large scale – they have grand ideas, huge ambitions, and display big gestures. Dragons often find themselves at the top of whatever they seek out to do. This is because they tend to be confident, successful, and fearless when it comes to challenges. Additionally, Dragons tend to want to be in the spotlight and crave attention.

This is not to say that Dragons do not have their negative points as well. They are often prideful and decline help from others even if they truly need it. Although they possess a high enthusiasm, they may often find themselves to be unfulfilled in life and restless.

Not only is 2012 the year of the Dragon, but for this year they are under the element of water. This element affects Dragons by calming down their fearlessness. This allows Dragons to be able to fully evaluate situations instead of just jumping in on decisions. This is because the traditional Dragon often lacks much needed patience.
